Our GRANT model is the “A-1” leather flying jacket, it was conceived in 1922 and was standardised for use on November 7th 1927. The Type A-1 jacket was technically referred to as the A-1 Summer Flying Jacket. The jacket was also manufactured as Navy issue from November 1927 to 1931. The knit collar, was designed to secure snugly around the pilot's neck and keep out the cold wind of the open style cockpit found on most aircraft of that era. We have worked closely with our artisans, decided to follow most of the original specifications and the finishing is superb. The jackets have genuine horn buttons and knit ribbings. We added hidden pockets where you can keep your hands warm without visible seams to keep the jacket to maintain its clean aesthetic. You have the option to pick either the genuine horn buttons or the leather-covered snap buttons at the base of the waistband. Wear this with a crewneck and chinos or dress it up with trousers, a shirt and tie to have a smart-casual look.
5 central buttons for closure with 2 buttons for neck fastening.
Bemberg lining with wool knitted collars, cuffs and waistband.
Buttons at the base of the waistband
